Firstly, I have to remind everyone about the changes made to the Rickerby Cup and Frank Lodge Cup matches after it was voted on at this years AGM.

Rickerby Cup - There is no need to toss up to see which team it asked to nominate their first name as we have done away with that. Now it is the HOME CAPTAIN who nominates the first name, to which the Away Captain then matches up and then puts down the second name as before. This is then repeated for the remaining four matches, alternating between the two teams until the card is complete.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frank Lodge Cup - The format for this team cup is that pairings are now done blindly without the knowledge of who plays who until after the names have been put down on the card. So, the Home Captain puts down his players names down on the card with the Away Captain matching up without any knowledge of who is playing who. . The Home Captain then shows the card to the Away Captain to make sure the order of the names put down matches with what he put in that order. This is to be repeated for all of the remaining players on the card.

Can I also remind all players who are wanting to take part in this years cup individuals to make sure they have their names down on the Competition Entry Sheet and the Delegate get them to me by the end of October. If you have any issue with the sheet not on show at your club, or sent in before you had time to enter any then just send me a text confirming your intention of entering the competitions.

Can I also mention the new cup competition for this year, The Seniors Cup which has been donated to the league by Brian Jarrett of Argyle which is open to all of those players who's age is of 65 or older. Not only will the inaugural winner of this new competition be the first man to get his name on the trophy, an honour in itself, but he will also receive a money prize for his efforts. Again, this has all been donated by Brian so we thank him for his efforts in creating this new competition. Brian has also added that he wishes that all of the players who enter this competition will be entered into the Blyden Over 50's cup competition but at a reduced fee of 2.00, instead of the usual 3.00.

Just leaves me to say, keep up the good play that has been shown already this year, and lets hope for some right royal battles as the season progresses...
